Agitar’s University Program Expands to Bring Unit Testing Solutions to Classrooms Globally

CRANSTON, RI - Agitar Technologies, Inc. has announced the expansion of its program to offer its AgitarOne unit testing solution to classrooms globally at no cost. Current and past participants in this program include Aalen University, Universidade Nova De Lisboa, Georgia Tech, Johannes Kepler University, New England Institute of Technology, University of Geneva, University of Helsinki, Worcester Polytechnic Institute, University of North Carolina, University of Pittsburgh, University of Sofia, University of St. Andrews and many others.

AgitarOne JUnit Generator transforms Java development into an agile, quick release, low risk process by automatically creating compilable high-coverage tests at the push of a button. The JUnit Generator analyzes the entire Java project and then generates tests that capture and preserve the code’s behavior. The speed and simplicity of fast tests mean they can be run often, typically many times a day, by developers in order to ensure that the code actually does what it is supposed to do.

“The computer science students of today will create tomorrow’s mission critical enterprise applications so the sooner they gain familiarity with leading-edge agile development technology the better,” said Dale Brenneman, V.P., Technology at Agitar Technologies. “The Agitar Technologies University Program provides colleges and universities with unit testing solutions that increase the speed and reduce the risk of the development process by detecting errors so they can be corrected at the earliest possible point.”

Antti-Pekka Tuovinen, Lecturer at the Computer Science Department of the University of Helsinki, said: “We originally joined the Agitar Technologies University Program on the request of a student who was working on his master’s thesis on the subject of test generation. Since that initial project was completed, our graduate students are finding it very useful to learn about the potential of fast testing technology. The AgitarOne tool itself works very well and is quite powerful.”

Students that utilize AgitarOne in the classroom setting will be prepared to quickly utilize the skills they have developed after graduation. The familiarity with fast testing tools that they gain during their studies can be easily applied in a corporation, government or non-profit environment. Just as important, students will gain familiarity with agile methods that are transforming the software development process by catching problems immediately after each code change when they can be quickly and inexpensively corrected.
